Kishore Kumar (4 August 1929 – 13 October 1987) was an Indian film playback singer, actor,director, and screenwriter. He is considered one of the most successful playback singers of the Hindi Film Industry.He won 8 Filmfare awards for best male playback singer.1950's to 1970's were the eras's of Kishore Kumar.The three Ganguly brothers Ashok Kumar,Anop Kumar and Kishore kumar was the part of iconic comedy Chalti ka Naam Gaadi(1958).Kishore Kumar started his career at Bombay Talkies.Music director Khemchand Prakash gave kumar a chance to sing "Marne KI duayen kyon Mangu" for the film Ziddi(1948).Kumar played the hero in Bombay Talkies film Andolan(1951).Earlier he was not interested in a film career.He was more interested in becoming a singer.
Salil Chowdhury, the music director for Naukri, was initially dismissive of Kumar as a singer when he found that Kumar had no formal training in music.However, after hearing his voice, Chowdhury gave him the song Chhota sa ghar hoga.Kumar starred in films New Delhi (1957),Aasha(1957),Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi(1958). In the movie Half Ticket, for one of the songs - Aake Seedhi Lagi Dil Pe - the music director Salil Chowdhary had a duet in mind and wanted Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar sing the song. However, since Lata Mangeshkar was not in town and Salil Chowdhury had to record that song before Lata Manageshkar could return Kishore Kumar solved the problem by singing for both the male and female versions of the song himself .1970s and 1980s, Kumar sang for Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bacchan,Dharmendra,Devanand.He Improved his bollywood career day by day.
The year 1986 is a critical year for Kishore Kumar.He suffers from a heart attack.As he was a good fighter he recovers from this,but it causes him to greatly reduce his recording schedule.He plans to go into retirement and return to his birthplace of Khandwa;but this just does not seem to happen Kishore's last recording was a playback song for Mithun Chakraborty.This was duet with Asha Bhosle for the film "Waqt KI Aawaz"
In 1987 he suffers another massive heart attack in Bombay.He died on October 13,1987 ,at the age of 58.His body was taken back to his birth place of Khandwa for cremation.There are several sound alike but no one can beat kishore kumar.whether a joyful the way he was able to communicate his emotions to the listeners was really remarkable.
